Hello and welcome!
I am a ceramic artist based in a small village on the Hampshire / Dorset border, on the edge of the New Forest National Park in the UK.
I make one of a kind sculptures and other items from Stoneware clay which are decorated using oxides and glazes to add a pop of colour. Each piece is created using either slab building techniques or thrown on a pottery wheel. Stoneware clay vitrifies during firings at high temperatures, making the pieces suitable for outdoor as well as indoor placements.
I have an over active imagination; which is hugely influenced by folklore, mythology and the books I read as a child containing the illustrations of Arthur Rackham, Alfred Bestall, Margaret Tarrent and Cicely Mary Barker to name but a few; All beautiful, classical and timeless fantasy illustrations; so if you see the odd pixie, imp or fairy pop up in my work you'll know why!
I am also inspired by the beautiful surroundings of the New Forest, Jurassic coastline and countryside of Dorset.
I was fortunate to encounter ceramics at secondary school and immediately fell in love
with the malleable substance of clay whichoffered me endless possibilities to express myself; This passion was reignited in 2017 when I signed up for wheel throwing lessons with Colin Jones of High Ridge Pottery
I exhibit locally in craft & art fairs; and take part in Hampshire Open Studios. I am also a proud member of the New Forest Marque Inspired.
